Toffee Squares

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla

Melt butter. Add brown sugar and mix well. Add egg yolk and mix. Add flour, soda, and vanilla.

Press into small cookie sheet or 9×13 pan. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 F.

Icing

1 1/2 cups icing sugar
3 TBS butter
2 TBS cocoa
1 egg white
1 tsp vanilla

Spread on toffee squares as soon as it is removed from the oven.
